Clay Niles is the Chief Operating officer and Co-founder at Altus Treatment Services. Clay has a vast experience in the field of recovery including over 20 years of personal experience with chemical dependency across a wide variety of treatment modalities. Before helping to create Altus Treatment Services, Clay has served in multiple positions in the field of recovery including House manager, Case Manager, Senior Case manager, Program Director, Clinical Operations Manager and Director of Operations. In addition to his position, Clay is also a credentialed counselor through Cypress College caring a 4.0 Grade average, further demonstrating the care and dedication he brings to the position of Director of Chief Operating Officer at Altus Treatment Services.
Danielle Portney, M.A. is a clinician at Altus Treatment. She is a registered Marriage and Family Therapist Intern and Professional Clinical Counselor Intern dedicated to helping individuals affected by substance use achieve successful treatment. Her goals are to assist clients in making improvements in their social, occupational, and home settings. She received her Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of California, Santa Cruz before obtaining her Master's degree in Counseling Psychology at Pacifica Graduate Institute. Danielle utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and other evidence-based treatments to treat adults, children, adolescents, and their families in Orange County. As a therapist, she had an opportunity to work with a wide range of emotional, behavioral, and adjustment problems including anxiety, depression, substance use, grief, loss, ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, family conflicts, anger, and trauma. Danielle comes to Altus Treatment Services to pursue her passion in the specialty field of addiction and continue to enrich individual's lives by fostering a safe environment where clients gain skills to live healthy fulfilling lives without drugs and alcohol.
Dr. Meghan Marcum, is the Clinical Director of Altus Treatment in Aliso Viejo, California. Dr. Marcum ensures the highest standard of clinical care for each client as well as oversees psychological assessment as a part of the clinical programs. She has a bachelor's degree in psychology from Arizona State University and a doctorate in clinical psychology from The American School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University. She completed her pre and post-doctoral training in the specialty field of chemical dependency and has also achieved specialized training in treating traumatic disorders with eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR). Dr. Marcum previously worked in the Neurosciences Institute at Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach, California where she maintains full privileges. She has developed an interest in helping those with co-occurring disorders by examining substance abuse as it relates to neurological changes over the course of the illness.
Dr. Mark Smith has worked in the field of chemical dependency for over 8 years. Dr. Smith's specializes in "Attachment and Addiction" where he has developed a curriculum applying the concepts of attachment theory/science to addiction and recovery. Dr. Smith earned his doctorate in clinical psychology from Azusa Pacific University where he wrote a treatment manual: The Treatment of Opiate Addiction Using Attachment Theory. Dr. Smith completed his internship at BHC of Alhambra and went on to be employed there as the primary chemical dependency counselor for their outpatient services. He moved on to work for Solid Landings in Costa Mesa where he developed his curriculum for "Attachment and Addiction." Dr. Smith has received favorable reviews from clients and colleagues regarding his approach to addiction and recovery. It has led to training professionals, paraprofessionals, and families on how to implement attachment into their interactions with clients/family members.
Melody Yen is the Finance Manager for Altus Treatment. She began her career by obtaining a bachelor's degree in business from Point Loma Nazarene College and achieving a position working directly under the comptroller for the Federal Projects Program for Migrant Education. With a natural desire to nurture, she obtained a BSN degree from Chico State University and became the manager of a surgical practice, developing both the financial and clinical structure to the facility; specializing in revenue recovery, professional services and post-surgical management and care. Melody offers over twenty years of experience and dedication to the positive care to Altus clients.
Paige Adler is the Office Manager at Altus Treatment Services, She's played an integral role in structuring the administrative fluidity of client relations. Paige came to Altus with a wealth of experience in the industry and eager to play a bigger role with more intimate responsibilities towards client care and day to day office managing. Paige's personal triumph over her own active addiction as well as her working knowledge of 12 step programs, empower her to further client care and overall operations. With a broad background in customer service and problem solving skills, she's an asset to Altus and the clientele.
